June 2010 - Magyar Posta - Closing event in Szentendre (HU) Magyar Posta organized its national closing event of the Green Post Project in Szentendre on 15 June 2010. All participants of the project were invited to the same location where the project launching event was organized, so the project team, the postmen from Szentendre,the subcontracting partner from the Budapest Technical University and the representative of the City of Szentendre were present. Dr. Sándor Horváth, leader of the project at Magyar Posta summarized the past 30 months in regards of the project’s activities, the outcome and results that were collected by other project partners and the Hungarian delivery colleagues. Mrs Katalin Molnár, Postmaster of Szentendre Post Office talked about the positive effects the alternative delivery vehicles brought to the city’s life and to the postal activities as well. She highlighted what a great opportunity was for their postal team to participate in an EUfunded project and how enthusiastic postmen delivered the postal items with the green vehicles. Mr. Balázs Trencséni from the University pointed out that this project co-operation was extremely useful for them as well as, since they had the possibility to link their scientific background with the everyday practise and test alternative vehicles in many aspects. The results received would be extremely beneficial for their future scientific researches as well. Finally Mr. Horváth thanked all project members for their devoted work and congratulated them on the successful project closure. The event was finished with the last chance of testing and driving the alternative delivery vehicles on the streets of Szentendre. .jpg)

June 2010 - Poste Italiane - Closing event in Rome (IT) Reduction of 70 percent of CO2 emissions and fuel costs: these are the main results achieved replacing traditional scooters with electric vehicles in mail delivery service. These results led Poste Italiane to increase the number of electric vehicles under testing from the city of Perugia, where the project began, to other 16 Italian cities. All these issues have been discussed at the convention "Green Post, the postman becomes green!", held in Rome on 4 June 2010 at Poste Italiane Headquarter. The event has been the end of an International Project, started 30 months ago, where PosteItaliane with other 8 Italian and foreign partners have designed a model of sustainable transport of mail. Results of the electric vehicles testing, Free Duck electric vehicle used for mail delivery in old town, have been shared with the participants during the event. The central role of postal companies in implementing sustainable mobility policies and objectives of the European Union has been one of the central issues of the conference. With Stefano Grassi, Head of Security & Safety Department of Poste Italiane, which opened the workshop, attended the convention: Marco Desiderati – Member of IX Transport Commission (IT); Francesco Lollobrigida – Councillor for mobility and public transport - Lazio Region (IT); Szebeny Botond – Secretary General - PostEurop (BE); Raimondo Orsini – Director - Sustainable Development Foundation (IT). The experiences of project partners (Magyar Posta, Ducati Energia, Legambiente, City of Perugia and Universities of Perugia and Rousse) were presented during the round table moderated by former Formula 1 driver and current journalist RAI, Ivan Capelli. After the meeting, participants have been invited to a test drive of the Free Duck and to visit the Green Station for charging green vehicles.
